Brisbane Possums Clinic

The Brisbane Possums Clinic

Parents of babies and toddlers regularly face sleep disruption, breastfeeding and lactation problems, crying and fussing, developmental worries, and the impacts of all this on their own mental health. Advice is often conflicting and one-size-fits-all, so parents are left unsure what to trust or what to do next.

The Brisbane Possums Clinic provides one-on-one clinical consultations grounded in Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC/Possums). Led by Possums founder Dr Pamela Douglas and NDC Accredited nurse Bree Cosgrove, the clinic offers in-person appointments in Brisbane and telehealth within Australia, including urgent appointments when timely care is needed.

What happens in a Brisbane Possums Clinic consultation?

A Brisbane Possums Clinic consultation is one-on-one and usually lasts 60 minutes. Possums consultations are built from the understanding that biologically, each family and infant is unique and the system needs to be addressed as a whole. Sleep, feeding, crying and fussing, development, and parental mental health all interact, so the appointments are comprehensive in order to get the best outcomes for your family.

Your practitioner will take a detailed history across medical background, sleep, feeding, sensory-motor needs and development, then will explain what is causing the problems in your situation. You will then work together on a personalised plan that aligns with your own values and goals, including changes to start experimenting with and implementing now and clear follow-up options.
